The Mediterranean Agri-Food Competence Center (MACC) is actively involved in implementing the project “Boosting Circular Systemic Solutions through Virtual Regional Circular Economy Spaces” (CSSBoost), under project number 101135275. The project is funded 70% by the European Union and 30% from own resources, aiming to enhance circular economy solutions through the creation and development of digital regional circular economy spaces.
Objectives of CSS BOOST
The project seeks to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and circular economy at local and regional levels by developing and implementing digital tools and platforms that support circular economy solutions, with a special focus on agriculture and agri-food.
Participation in the Interactive Workshop of the Region of Crete
As part of the project, MACC participated in the first interactive workshop organized by the Region of Crete as a partner of the European Project Digital Rural Interreg Europe. The workshop focused on the challenges faced by rural residents, aiming to improve policies that promote Smart Villages and the digital transformation of rural areas.
The event took place on Wednesday, February 12, 2024, from 10:00 to 16:00, at the Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia, with the support of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania.
Prospects and Benefits
The implementation of CSS BOOST aims to create smart, resilient, and sustainable rural ecosystems, enhancing productivity and sustainability in local communities. Through digital applications, data, and cutting-edge technologies, the project contributes to the development of innovative policies and strategies that will ensure a sustainable future for the agricultural sector.
