The international Summer School of the European CSSBoost project (Horizon Europe) was successfully completed in Crete, co-organized by MACC, the Technical University of Crete (TUC), and the Social CRM Research Centre (SCRC), as part of their social innovation initiatives. Students and young researchers from Greece and abroad explored the principles of the Circular Economy and co-creation, learning how innovation can transform the local agri-food sector.
As part of the initiative, participants had the opportunity to experience firsthand the three Circular Value Chains of Pilot 1 in Crete: the use of sheep wool to produce soil-improving pellets; the conversion of agricultural residues into green fertilizers and biostimulants for tomato cultivation; and the utilization of food by-products, such as oat and carob, to produce enriched and nutritious bakery products.
The initiative demonstrated in practice how organic waste can be transformed into valuable resources, inspiring the next generation of scientists to work towards a more sustainable future.
So, how close are we to a world where the word “waste” will finally belong to the past?
