Unfortunately, in Greece, what we don’t understand we cancel, we throw away. And this is mostly done by people who are supposedly “educated” (as my grandmother used to say). People with master’s and doctoral degrees (of course in other disciplines than the ones they don’t understand). And the main characteristic of these people is that what they don’t understand they condemn as unapplied. As without substance. As a surface!
This flattening behaviour has been common for many, many years in the agri-food sector, especially at the level of the primary production process. It is a well-established mentality that concerns both the producers-farmers-processors themselves and the scientists, mainly agronomists, whose job it is to help the former succeed in what they do.
