The MACC innovates on the threshold of 2023

With innovations in agri-food products and new perspectives for 2023, the Mediterranean Agri-Food and Skills Centre, just in its first year of operation, held its first Extraordinary General Assembly of its partners, in a very positive atmosphere, on Monday 19/12/2022 at the Technical Schools of Heraklion Chamber of Commerce.

With a statutory quorum, Dr.
Michael Katharakis,
as MACC ‘s trustee , showed the dynamics of the newly established company, introducing 13 new members to the scheme, from the business and scientific world, presenting the first two integrated innovative products:

  • The fertilizer from sheep’s wool


  • The smart agriculture system based on the
    LoraWAN
    (
    Wireless Sensor Network, using the LoRaWAN protocol, for crop monitoring).

MACC as a lever for the development of sustainable agri-food entrepreneurship

During the meeting, 30 new capabilities (investment products) in development were presented, while the AGM unanimously decided to increase the company’s share capital.

The General Assembly was chaired by Elias Didaskalou, co-founder of Anastasiadis Group Property Advisors, partner of MACC and the main panel was also chaired by Economist Grigoris Kokolakis.

MACC is growing stronger by creating new jobs, monitoring and shaping developments in a constantly evolving technological environment, through new methods in the agri-food sector, investing in research and the synergy between academia and entrepreneurship.

The MACC was staffed from the outset by the administrator Dr. Μ. Katharaki and the responsible management and operation of the company Μ. Voydaski, while steadily throughout the duration of its action, the MACC argued the professor κ. Manolis Koudoumas, the Network Development Manager Mr C. Manousakis and the Mr N. Fakidaris.

A few words about the MACC

The establishment of the MACC is a flagship initiative of the research institutions of the Region of Crete and innovative businesses with the main objective to contribute to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the agri-food sector through the exploitation of existing innovative technologies.

MACC focuses on the implementation of innovative business plans by exploiting the knowledge generated in research laboratories, technological and entrepreneurial institutions, as well as in production units in Greece and abroad.

The MACC throughits corporate composition (38 partners) is a cluster of clusters, with a high level of applied know-how and scientific training.
