On Friday 19 January 2024, the 1st InfoLab of the European Living Labs was held at the building of the Athens Academy of Sciences’ Research Centre, in the building of Soranos Ephesius. It was a co-organization of ENoLL – European Network of Living Labs, Athena Research Center, AUTH Medical Physics & Digital Innovation Lab of the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences of AUTH, VITALISE Project – Virtual Health & Wellbeing Living Lab Infrastructure, I.MET. For the first time in Greece, in the framework of the meeting, successful cases of living labs that are already active and in progress were presented. Among other things, the value of the 5th helix was discussed regarding the environment, i.e. the place where the innovation is applied, and this place can be a hospital, a park, a school, an organised tourist area or even a farmland.

MACC presented the innovative MACC – SOIL initiative

The Mediterranean Agri-Food Competence Centre (MACC), as a new member of European Living Labs, presented the innovative MACC-SOIL initiative it has designed for the Mediterranean region and especially for Crete. It is a holistic and collaborative approach

to find solutions and ways to address soil degradation problems.

The MACC-SOIL initiative is a revolution in soil management practices with a holistic approach that will lead to sustainable health, resilience and – ultimately – to the preservation of the environment in the region of Crete and the Southeast Mediterranean in general.
