The work of the Pancretan Agri-Food Fair of Arkalochori, which lasted until June 29, 2025, started successfully. The exhibition attracted entries from every corner of Crete, covering the entire spectrum of the primary sector and highlighting the dynamics of local agricultural production and processing.
The presence of the Mediterranean Agri-Food Capabilities Centre (MACC) was notable, which actively participated by presenting smart agriculture applications, soil improvement products and other innovative farming practices. MACC’s activities are part of the European project CSSBoost – Boosting Circular Systemic Solutions through Virtual Regional Circular Economy Spaces, which is co-funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union.
The participation of Mills of Crete, supported by the Mediterranean Agri-Food Capacity Centre in the framework of the CSSBoost project, was also significant, with actions including the use of sheep wool for the creation of soil amendment products and the development of high nutritional value yeast products. The company’s involvement reinforces the objective of integrating the circular economy into the agri-food chain with innovative and sustainable practices.
Strategic partners in this effort are also the Supermarkets Halkiadakis and the farmer Mr. Vassalos Vangelis, who utilizes his valuable experience in the local supply chain. This partnership is a prime example of how innovation and the circular economy can be effectively applied in the agri-food sector, offering solutions that combine sustainability and commercial success.
The Pancretan Agri-Food Fair concluded its dynamic programme of events, presentations and discussions, confirming its role as a reference point for the primary sector of Crete.
