MACC Participates in the National Competence Centers Meeting

The Mediterranean Agri-Food Competence Center – MACC actively participated in the National Meeting of Competence Centers, held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Grecotel Imperial Hotel in Larissa.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General for Research and Innovation, Mr. Tasos Gaitanis, at a pivotal moment just before the official publication of the Call for Proposals under the “Competence Centers” Action within the framework of the NSRF 2021–2027.

 Objectives of the Meeting:

  • Short presentations from all Competence Centers across Greece.
  • Open dialogue on strategic directions and future prospects.
  • Keynote update from GSRT regarding the upcoming funding framework and implementation details.

 MACC Highlights:

MACC presented its latest developments in the agri-food innovation sector, including:

  • The implementation of Smart-agro Genius technologies for real-time precision farming.
  • The commercial rollout of Ferti-wool, a sustainable organic fertilizer.
  • Its strategic roadmap for 2025–2026, emphasizing:
    • Integration into the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL).
    • The launch of the MACC-SOIL Living Lab, promoting soil health and agroecology at scale.

 Outcomes:

The meeting highlighted the vital role of Competence Centers in strengthening the national innovation ecosystem.
Through collaboration, applied research, and digital transformation, MACC continues to support a sustainable, innovative, and competitive future for Greek and Mediterranean agri-food systems.
