The aim is to avoid mistakes during the whole process (from picking to blending and bottling) by using the knowledge of modern tools and by using and highlighting its quality characteristics. This knowledge can lead to an improvement of the position of Greek oil in the global market.<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EL\">On the occasion of the above, the<\/span>Mediterranean <span lang=\"EL\">Centre for Agri-Food Competence (<\/span>MACC<span lang=\"EL\">) in collaboration with the Organic Laboratory of Crete ASP<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\">organized educational workshops <\/span> on<\/p><p><span lang=\"EL\">&#8220;The quality of olive oil, its organoleptic characteristics and good practices throughout the production chain&#8221; <\/span><\/p><h3><span lang=\"EL\">The<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\">training workshops<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\">were implemented<\/span>:<\/h3><ul><li>At the Lassithi Chamber of Commerce on 22\/10\/2022<\/li><li><span lang=\"EL\">At the Technical Schools of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\">on 23\/10\/22 <\/span><\/li><li>At the Chamber of Chania on 26\/10\/22<\/li><li>At the Rethymno Chamber of Commerce on 29\/10\/22<\/li><\/ul><p><span lang=\"EL\">Mrs. Eleftheria Germanaki (responsible and head of the accredited Laboratory of Crete ASP) shared her knowledge on issues of organoleptic evaluation of olive oil and olive oil cultivation, production and standardization.<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EL\">The main part of the training workshop was<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\"> familiarisation with the quality and organoleptic characteristics of the olive oil, carried out by testing individual samples which had been selected and evaluated<\/span> <span lang=\"EL\"> to offer a reliable and comprehensive sensory evaluation experience for quality classes, intensities of properties and major defects (<\/span>defects<span lang=\"EL\">) .<\/span><\/p><p><span lang=\"EL\">Avoiding mistakes in the production of olive oil that make it either defective or of poor quality is very important for Crete to invest in quality for a better future. For this reason, Mr. Manolis Karpadakis (Vice President of the Exporters&#8217; Association of Crete) focused on good practices throughout the production chain, on the mistakes to be avoided in the field, in harvesting, transport, mills and storage.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MACC on olive oil continues its efforts to upgrade the quality of olive oil in cooperation with institutions and businesses in Crete.
